- Six habits all cat owners will recognize. LOL!
- The real history of tipping is (un)surprisingly racist. In other news, water is wet. :P
- Photographer finds locations of 1960s postcards to see how they look today.
- The Fear Box with John Boyega and Gwendoline Christie. OMG, they are adorable! <3
- Apparently, gay marriage has been around a long time. Someone should tell Mike Pence.
- How other countries think Americans do things. *sigh* Thing is, they're not far off. :/
- I'm not sure how I feel about this. Some people who didn't win Grammies got 'consolation' puppies. One the one hand, PETA is correct (and I almost NEVER agree with them), animals are not toys, but on the other, look at Jerry Seinfeld's face!
- These comics by 'War and Peas' with unexpected endings are hilarious.
- Random insane facts are...random. *g*
- Masks that light up in response to music! Cool, yes, but also a but creepy (in a 'The Purge' sort of way).
- A few weeks back I posted about how UPS drivers often times make friends with the dogs along their routes. Well, as it turns out, it's not just dogs. *g*
- These cakes are almost too gorgeous to eat. Almost. ;)
- And speaking of fake food...Incredibly Realistic Wood Carvings Look Good Enough to Eat.
- Finally, this person inserts their ginger cat into famous pieces of art and it's awesome!
Happy Sunday, all! *smooches* Remember, love trumps hate. ♥

Date: 2018-02-04 07:58 pm (UTC)That gun video is hilarious, yet like so many satires, different from reality only in degree.
On the puppy question, I tend to side with PETA (for once). Animals are not toys, and those situations (strange people, noises, smells, and crowds) must be scary for the pups. But cute, definitely. (I'm always surprised when I see current Jerry Seinfield; in my head, he always looks like he did on TV 20+ years ago. Same thing happens when I see myself in a mirror!)
Not surprised about the racist tipping origins. So many economic policies are designed to maintain systemic racial, class, and gender inequality.

Date: 2018-02-04 10:10 pm (UTC)*sigh* Yes. I did laugh at the gun vid. Better than crying I suppose.
*nods* This may be the first time PETA and I have agreed on anything. Although I have since found out the puppies were just for cuddling, not for keeping, so that does make me feel a bit better. LOL about Jerry's aging. I know what you mean. In my head I'm still in my mid 30's. :P
Ugh about tipping. I am a generous tipper mainly because those service jobs can really SUCK, so 20% is minimum for me. But OMG, pay people a living wage already! *shakes head*

Date: 2018-02-05 02:28 am (UTC)I think we are kidding ourselves if we don't see what a shiny veneer American "success" is. We may have had a few decades of prosperity but it's not guaranteed, and frankly much of the country has been sliding into poverty sine the 70s.
My grandpa sold his clarinet in 1932 and made a down payment on a new house. My parents bought a really nice suburban home for three years income. Three years of my income wouldn't get me a studio apartment in the town where I work.
Sorry for the downer... I love the fun and interesting things you post on Sundays. It just makes me sad.

Date: 2018-02-07 02:04 am (UTC)I see why you say that about the 60s pics.
I find pics of abandoned amusement parks a bit haunting as well.
This is absolutely true. And the latest ridiculous and insane tax cut is going to make things worse. What I find interesting (and disheartening) is how willing people are to vote against their own interests. Somehow Republicans have sold poor people on the idea that they need to agree with cutting taxes on the rich in preparation for the day they, too, become rich. What those people don't seem to realize is the deck is increasingly stacked against them and they will never succeed making minimum wage.
*hugs*
It makes me sad, too. Why do you think I tag these "we're in the darkest timeline'?
But at this point it's either cry, drink, or look at pics of cuddly animals. So I do all three. ♥

Date: 2018-02-05 04:43 pm (UTC)I didn't know that was how tipping originated. In France waiters and waitresses are absolutely supposed to be paid minimum wage, and tipping is extra. Of course, I'd wager some people don't respect these rules, especially in the case of workers who are not French citizens and work "illegally" -- so you end up with racist discrimination nonetheless. And the laws that were passed (despite numerous protests) surrounding work from the past few years have really increased financial insecurity for a lot of workers by attacking the social protections ; lots of people suffer from it, and ofc a lot of politicians use racism as a diversion (it's better for them if people talk about immigration than about their indecent spending of public money on planes and false jobs for their family members!). Anyway, thanks for sharing this video.
These postcards pictures are utterly fascinating!
The UPS animals pics are adorable, omg, goats :')))))
I now really want to try making a cake with icing like that. It's so satisfying to look at *_*

Date: 2018-02-07 02:09 am (UTC)I know, right? Goats are pretty cute (even if they're kinda stupid). *g*
Pretty cakes are pretty, I agree. Although I am not even remotely crafty, so I'll just let someone else make it and then I'll eat it. ;)
